Established in 1991, the Molino del Pero Golf Club is a technical course. Despite the wide fairways, the first 9 holes, which are par 35, cover 2,610 metres and are situated 320 m above sea level, have small, tricky greens that make the course great fun for both experts and beginners. The second 9 holes, which are flatter but equally spectacular, was inaugurated in 2006. The views that can be enjoyed walking along the unusual 'Molino del Pero' course are unique and spectacular.
Thanks to the particularly favourable weather conditions, cool and breezy during summer and rarely snowy during winter, it is possible to play all year round, disturbed only by the occasional fox or deer. The slope of the first holes, that start sharp from the Savena Valley, has often been cited in international golf magazines as 'The Stairway to Heaven'. The splendid clubhouse, built in the old mill, is decorated with enormous oak beams and has a large fireplace that creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
Course Details: 18 holes, par 70, 5.450 metres, inaugurated in 1992.
Facilities: putting green, pitching green, driving range with 4 covered positions, golf carts, club and trolley hire, pro-shop, locker rooms and car park.
Season: open all year round, closed Mondays (except bank holidays).
Directions: The golf course is 25 km from Bologna. Follow state road 65 from Futa to Pianoro, then follow the 'Fondovalle del Savena' road, which is 10 km from the Rioveggio exit and 17 km from the Sasso Marconi exit. Head to Monzuno then follow signs to Loiano where there are directions to the golf course.
