Modena Golf and Country Club is situated in a strategic position and it can be reached, quickly and easily, from any direction. In fact downtown Modena (only 10 km away), Sassuolo, Vignola, Carpi and other interesting towns are all nearby. Spread over 100 hectares and built following a design by the German champion Bernhard Langer, assisted by the American architect Jim Eng from Boulder, Colorado, this course is one of the finest in Italy.
The wide greens and tees, the smoothly winding fairways, the large 'hungry' bunkers and the numerous, extra-large water hazards make this course the ideal venue for top level competitions such as the Italian Open, which celebrated its 50th edition here. An executive course, a well equipped driving range and two tennis courts complete the sports facilities on offer. The club also features: a fine gourmet restaurant, where sophisticated and local dishes can be relished, a cosy bar and coffee-shop, two swimming pools, a billiard room and TV and card lounges to welcome players and their guests after their golfing 'efforts'.
Course Details: 18 hole "Bernhard Langer" Championship Course, par 72, 6,423 metres, inaugurated in 1990; 9 hole Executive Course, par 27, 976 metres.
Facilities: swimming pool, sauna, driving range, putting green, pitching green, chipping green, 2 tennis courts, bar, restaurant, pro-shop, meeting room, billiard room, bridge room, golf carts, trolleys, club hire, instructors, car park, locker rooms, TV lounge.
Season: open all year round, closed Tuesdays (except public holidays).
Directions: take the A1 Milan - Bologna motorway (OPTION 1 - Northbound traffic from Bologna), exit at Modena Sud. Turn right, towards Modena, for about 5 km, as far as the four-lane motorway ring road "Nuova Estense". Turn left at the traffic lights and head towards Abetone, Maranello. Continue for about 10 km, as far as Colombaro. Turn left at the traffic lights and the club entrance is 150 metres away, on the right. (OPTION 2 - Southbound traffic from Milano - Parma - Reggio E.): exit at Modena Nord, turn right onto the motorway ring-road towards Sassuolo, continue as far as exit 18. Turn right onto the new motorway ring towards Abetone (parallel to the A1), drive all the way to the end of the ring, as far as the roundabout, turn right onto State Road SS 12 towards Abetone, Maranello. Continue for about 4 km, as far as Colombaro. Turn left at the traffic lights and the club entrance is 150 metres away, on the right.
