Surrounded by the uncontaminated hills of the Apennines above Parma, the Antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello hotel is easily reached from all the main motorways, train stations and airports in North Italy.
Originally a military fortress of the Pallavicino Marquis and dating from the 11th century, it was at the centre of numerous historical events and a defence garrison over a strategic zone for the passing of the Pilgrim’s Way and domain over the salt mines. The imposing castle that overlooks the hamlet and the defensive system bear witness to this.
Today, the fortified hamlet has become a charming relais and the ancient post house inn still retains a typical culinary tradition, with the chance to visit the ancient cellars for wine tasting, and the opportunity to purchase typical local produce such as Parmesan, salamis and wine.
The hotel offers suites of various sizes, situated in part of the ancient watchtower and in the noble residence, with exceptional panoramic views and all modern comforts.
Each residence is furnished with old furniture and upholstery, and has a fitted kitchenette, whirlpool tubs, flat-screen TV, air-conditioning and fast Internet connection. The suites overlook the garden, which is surrounded by the town walls and has ancient olives and a large park of oak trees.
